Reporters Without Borders

This project demonstrates just how dramatically censorship can hide the truth and skew public perception. So we’ve taken some of the most iconic and controversial images of the 20th Century and removed the controversial subject matter, leaving a sanitised image behind. This makes the image appear relatively harmless - As if it’s the original picture and the terrible act never took place. We have only used controversial images that are extremely well known. They are mostly images awarded by the World Press Photo Award or Pulitzer committee and are often cited as the most controversial images of the 20th century and images that changed the world.
